چکیده

The equivalence between the Lawrence-Doniach model for films of extreme type-II layered superconductors and a generalization of the back-scattering model for spin-1/2 electrons in one dimension is demonstrated. This fermion analogy is then exploited to obtain an anomalous H ‖ tail for the parallel equilibrium magnetization of the minimal double layer case in the limit of high parallel magnetic fields H‖ for temperatures in the critical regime. An issue that remains open is the question of whether or not layer decoupling occurs in the presence of a parallel magnetic field. The standard phenomenological model used to study this problem theoretically is given by the Lawrence-Doniach (LD) free-energy functional, which in the absence of fluctuations of the magnetic field reads ELD = J‖ [ N

Critical Behavior of Layered Superconducting Films in Parallel Magnetic Field

The equilibrium magnetization for layered superconducting films that experience a nonzero component, H‖, of magnetic field applied parallel to the layers is computed at temperatures and at perpendicular field components in the vicinity of the decoupling transition. A fermion analogy is exploited for this purpose, whereby it is found that the parallel magnetization shows an anomalous H ‖ tail at...

On the Decoupling of Layered Superconducting Films in Parallel Magnetic Field

The issue of the decoupling of extreme type-II superconducting thin films (λL → ∞) with weakly Josephson-coupled layers in magnetic field parallel to the layers is considered via the corresponding frustrated XY model used to describe the mixed phase in the critical regime. For the general case of arbitrary field orientations such that the perpendicular magnetic field component is larger than th...

Three-dimensional calculations of the magnetic fields in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder in an applied axial magnetic field

In this study, a set of self-consistent coupled-integral equations for the local magnetic flux and current distributions in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder under an axial magnetic field has been directly derived by using the Biot-Savart law within the framework of the critical-state model. The equations were first solved numerically in the three-dimensional space before obtaining the h...

Two-dimensional superconducting state of monolayer Pb films grown on GaAs(110) in a strong parallel magnetic field.

Two-dimensional (2D) superconductivity was studied by magnetotransport measurements on single-atomic-layer Pb films on a cleaved GaAs(110) surface. The superconducting transition temperature shows only a weak dependence on the parallel magnetic field up to 14T, which is higher than the Pauli paramagnetic limit. Furthermore, the perpendicular-magnetic-field dependence of the sheet resistance is ...

Magnetic-field-independent superconductivity of ultrathin Pb films on cleaved GaAs surface

We performed magnetotransport measurements on ultathin Pb films deposited onto cleaved GaAs surface and observed two-dimensional superconductivity for an amorphous 2.2-Å-thick film, which is below one monolayer. The superconducting transition is almost independent of parallel magnetic field as high as 14 T. This means that the superconducting state has much larger critical magnetic field than P...
